Gyeonggi-do to Host '2024 Clean Air International Forum' on May 5-6

View original imageGyeonggi Province will hold the "2024 Clean Air International Forum" over two days on the 5th and 6th at Gyeonggi Economic Science Promotion Agency's Gwanggyo Hall in Suwon. This forum is an annual event held to commemorate "Blue Sky Day" (September 7) and this year marks its 6th edition.
The program is organized around the joint theme of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), "Invest in # CleanAir now," and Gyeonggi Province's subtitle, "Reducing Air Pollution and Human Health Risks."
Governor Kim Dong-yeon of Gyeonggi Province will deliver the opening address, followed by a keynote speech by former United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon titled "Beyond the Climate Crisis Era Toward a Sustainable Future!"
With the participation of 150 experts from 9 countries including international organizations, Asia-Pacific local governments, and domestic and foreign specialists, the forum has prepared a richer 2024 Clean Air International Forum by organizing a special session where companies and public institutions participate together for the first time.
The main programs include ▲ the impact of ultrafine dust on health (Session I) ▲ scientific management methods for air pollutants such as air quality analysis based on environmental satellites (Session II) ▲ discussion of cooperation measures with neighboring countries (Japan, China, Korea) since air pollutants affect beyond borders (Session III) ▲ and a special session sharing the latest AI-based ultrafine dust reduction technologies by Hyundai Motor Company and public institutions, along with performances and special lectures.

Additionally, awards will be given to 10 outstanding cities and counties in the air environment field and general residents, and a fine dust empathy talk program will be held where residents can directly participate together with Julian Quintart, the European Union (EU) Climate Action Goodwill Ambassador.
