원본보기 아이콘The 'Press the SOS Rescue Button' relay challenge is a campaign organized by the Korea Coast Guard since last May to raise social awareness about sending SOS rescue signals and the importance of wearing life jackets, as well as to encourage the voluntary participation of fishermen.
Recently, Mayor Hong was nominated as the next participant in the challenge by Lee Sang-geun, the mayor of Goseong County. He, in turn, nominated Son Taehwa, chairman of the Changwon Special City Council, and Choi Gicheol, head of the Masan Fisheries Cooperative Association, as the next relay participants.
Heads of organizations and others nominated as participants in the challenge join the campaign by holding a sign that reads, "SOS, be sure to press it in an emergency at sea," urging participation and nominating the next participant in turn.
Mayor Hong stated, "Please always wear a life jacket, which is your seat belt on the sea, and in case of emergency, do not panic but promptly press the SOS rescue button installed on communication devices such as the V-PASS on fishing boats. I will do my utmost to protect the lives and property of citizens from maritime accidents and to create a safer sea."
