Ulsan Office of Education Provides 500 Million KRW for COVID-19 Prevention Supplies
Preparing for Simultaneous Influenza Outbreaks During Winter
Additional Support for All Schools, Including Dormitories and Special Schools
The Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Cheon Changsu) will provide budget support for quarantine supplies to all kindergartens, elementary, middle, and high schools, as well as special and various schools, in preparation for a potential resurgence of COVID-19 in the second half of the year.
The Office of Education has prepared this measure in response to the significant spread of pertussis and Mycoplasma pneumonia among children and adolescents in the first half of this year, aiming to prepare for a possible simultaneous outbreak of influenza and COVID-19 during the winter season.
The budget will be allocated using 500 million KRW from the reserve fund, distributed to each school based on the number of students. Additional support will be provided to schools operating dormitories, special schools, and broadcasting correspondence middle and high schools.
Once the budget is provided to each school, they will purchase the necessary supplies themselves. Schools can purchase quarantine supplies such as masks, disinfectants (for hands and environment), rapid antigen test kits, thermometers, and disinfectant wipes, or conduct special additional disinfection within classrooms as needed.
The Office of Education is conducting a focused inspection period for school quarantine at all schools until the 6th. In response to the resurgence of COVID-19, they are closely checking the status of quarantine system maintenance and management at school sites.
For schools operating dormitories, where group living raises concerns about mass infection, inspections are being strengthened by checking regular disinfection and ventilation in dormitories, guiding mask-wearing, and posting preventive promotional materials.
