President Lee Geunyong, Professor Song Yumi from the Department of Social Welfare Counseling, and about 10 faculty and staff members made and delivered beverages to residents in front of the Pungjeong-ri village hall, bringing vitality to the rural community weary from the heat.
On this day, members of Daegu Cyber University raised awareness of the issues facing rural communities, such as population decline and the absence of young people, and provided a healing time for residents exhausted by the heat and agricultural life.
Additionally, Professor Song Yumi (Department of Social Welfare Counseling) proposed consulting on welfare and counseling for the promotion of physical and mental health to help alleviate the isolation of elderly residents in the village.
President Lee Geunyong of Daegu Cyber University said, "We have been considering ways in which the university can be of help to the local community," and added, "I hope this was a time to share even a small joy with the elderly in the area who need warm attention and love."
The "Running DCU Cafe" began in 2022 as a social contribution project in partnership with the coffee brand Mashigray, providing free beverages to citizens weary from the COVID-19 pandemic, and this marks its seventh event.
