Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) will hold the ‘2024 Migaro Food Culture Festival’ on September 6th at the Guui-dong Food Alley, offering a variety of delicious foods.
Organized by the Migaro Commercial Association (President Kwak Chang-sik), this festival will feature a free tasting event with participation from popular restaurants in the commercial area. Visitors can enjoy signature dishes from 20 restaurants including Korean, Chinese, Japanese, and fusion cuisines.
Before the opening, a spectacular stage performance will take place starting at 4 PM. B-boying, juggling, soap bubbles, and cocktail shows will captivate the audience. After the opening ceremony, the central stage will offer balloon art and magic shows. Performances by popera singers, harmonica players, and invited singers will also entertain both the eyes and ears.
As a side event, a ‘Sandwich Making’ session will be held. Participants can prepare healthy low-sugar food using chicken breast and carrot salad. On the day of the event, 36 interested residents will be recruited on a first-come, first-served basis.
Additionally, a consultation booth will be set up to provide information on food poisoning and chronic disease prevention. Attendees can learn about proper food intake and nutritional diets, receive smoking cessation counseling, and undergo alcohol risk constitution tests. Furthermore, a lunchbox sharing event will be conducted for 30 low-income elderly living alone, adding meaningfulness to the festival.
Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “As the romance of autumn approaches in September, I hope everyone enjoys the Migaro Festival filled with delicious food and exciting attractions,” and added, “We will spare no support to help the Migaro commercial area become a hygienic, pleasant, and distinctive local landmark.”
