View original imageDaejeon City and the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries will hold the '2024 Korea Hanbat Urban Sea Festival' at Hanbit Square in Expo Science Park from August 30 to September 1.
Seasonal seafood such as blue crabs will be sold at prices approximately 10-40% lower than market rates. There will also be hands-on activities for families, including seafood auctions, fishing experiences in waterweed pools, and fish block puzzles.
In addition, there will be tasting events to promote the consumption of sea eel, abalone, and rockfish, as well as food booths and food trucks where visitors can enjoy seasonal seafood. The Daejeon City promotional booth will feature exhibitions and sales of Korea's representative seafood and appearances by Kkumssi Family.
There are also plans to host busking performances and screen documentaries set against the backdrop of the sea that the whole family can enjoy together.
Daejeon Mayor Lee Jangwoo said, "We have prepared a variety of events and plenty of food so visitors can enjoy the charm of the sea in the city center," adding, "As this is the first sea festival to be held in Daejeon, I hope many citizens will come and enjoy it."
