Prosecutors Summon Former Chief Justice Kim Myeong-su for 'Parliament False Explanation Suspicion' Investigation
The prosecution summoned former Chief Justice Kim Myeong-su for investigation on charges of refusing to accept the resignation of former High Court Chief Judge Im Seong-geun and providing false explanations to the National Assembly.
According to the legal community on the 24th, the Criminal Division 1 of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Kim Seung-ho) conducted a private summons investigation of former Chief Justice Kim the previous day on charges of abuse of authority, forgery and use of false official documents, and obstruction of official duties.
Former Chief Justice Kim is accused of rejecting former Chief Judge Im's resignation request in May 2020 on the grounds that the National Assembly was pursuing impeachment, and submitting a false written response to the National Assembly's inquiry denying that the resignation was refused for impeachment purposes.

This prosecution appearance comes three years and six months after the People Power Party filed the complaint. This is the second time a former head of the judiciary has been investigated by prosecutors, following former Chief Justice Yang Seung-tae.
