Yeongju City Launches Ibo-Deum Support Project to Encourage Childbirth Among Small Business Owners
Up to 12 Million Won in Substitute Labor Wages for Childbirth for 6 Months
Applications Available via Gyeongsangbuk-do Moiso App Starting September 2
Yeongju City, Gyeongbuk will begin accepting applications for participants in the '2024 Small Business Owner Childcare Support Program' starting September 2.
This program aims to alleviate the financial burden of childbirth and childcare for small business owners by providing up to 12 million KRW in substitute labor costs for up to six months after childbirth.
Eligible applicants are small business owners and their spouses who have given birth between January 1 and December 31, 2024. Requirements include: both residence and business addresses must be in Gyeongbuk; the business must have been operating for at least one year as of the date of childbirth; and the previous year's annual sales must be at least 12 million KRW.
Applicants who meet these requirements and hire substitute workers to cover childcare leave can receive up to 2 million KRW per month, with a maximum of 12 million KRW over six consecutive months. Employment must comply with the Minimum Wage Act and Labor Standards Act, and support is limited to one person per business location.
Eligible individuals can apply via the Gyeongbuk 'Moiso' mobile app from September 2, 2024 to May 31, 2025. Applications may close early if the budget is exhausted, and selected small business owners can claim labor costs on a monthly basis.
Mayor Park Namseo stated, "I hope this program will provide practical help to small business owners struggling with business management due to childbirth and childcare," adding, "We will actively promote the program so that all eligible small business owners can apply."
