Gijang County Selects Two Sites for 'Hope Fence Contest Project'... Customized Welfare Through Private Sector Cooperation
Gijang-gun (Governor Jung Jongbok) announced on the 19th that it has recently selected two institutions, Gijang Welfare Center for the Disabled and Jeonggwan Senior Welfare Center, as the implementing agencies for the 'Gijang Hope Fence Public Contest Project' and will officially launch customized welfare projects through public-private cooperation.
The 'Gijang Hope Fence Public Contest Project' is a local welfare promotion initiative carried out in cooperation with the Sungwoo Hope Foundation, a social welfare corporation. Through a public contest, local social welfare institutions are selected and a variety of welfare projects led by these institutions are implemented.
From July 8 to 31, the county held an open call for project implementers, and after review by the Gijang-gun Community Social Security Working Council, Gijang Welfare Center for the Disabled and Jeonggwan Senior Welfare Center were finally selected as project participants.
These institutions will work closely with Gijang-gun to carry out local welfare promotion projects for the socially vulnerable from September this year through June next year.
Gijang Welfare Center for the Disabled will operate a 'Writer Development Project' through creative activities for people with developmental disabilities, while Jeonggwan Senior Welfare Center will run a 'Senior Counselor Training Project' to help alleviate the sense of isolation among the elderly.
Jung Jongbok, Governor of Gijang-gun, said, "Through this project, we hope to promote public-private cooperation with local welfare institutions and provide a variety of welfare services to the vulnerable, thereby contributing to the improvement of local welfare."
Last year, the county selected Gijang General Social Welfare Center and Dahaengbokhan General Social Welfare Center to carry out this project. Gijang General Social Welfare Center operated programs to build social networks and improve the quality of life for single-person households in their 30s and 50s. Dahaengbokhan General Social Welfare Center conducted projects to promote social skills and physical activities for children with developmental disabilities, receiving positive feedback from participants.
