Recognized for 23 Years of Dedicated Efforts for Infant and Toddler Health and Safety
The Korea Workers’ Compensation and Welfare Service (President Park Jonggil) announced on the 5th that Kim Soonsook, a teacher at the Daejeon Daycare Center, has been selected as the recipient of the “Teacher of the Year Award” for the organization’s directly operated daycare centers.

View original imageAmid expectations of significant changes in early childhood care policies following the government’s recent measures to reverse the low birth rate trend and the implementation plan for the integration of early childhood education and care, the organization selects and encourages teachers from its directly operated daycare centers who have made outstanding contributions to the development of childcare services with exceptional dedication and responsibility.
Kim Soonsook, the recipient of the third annual Teacher of the Year Award, has served at the Daejeon Daycare Center for 23 years since its opening, earning great trust from parents and fellow staff through her devoted efforts to ensure the health and safety of infants and young children.
In particular, her active participation in ESG practices promoted by the organization, Open Daycare Center certification, and the expansion of care for vulnerable children, as well as receiving the Prime Minister’s Commendation and numerous awards in various contests, have been highly regarded for her continuous efforts toward the advancement of both herself and the institution as a childcare teacher.
The organization operates 37 directly managed daycare centers nationwide to provide reliable public childcare services, aiming to alleviate the childcare burden for working parents and support work-life balance. Approximately 890 staff members care for about 3,650 infants and young children.
