Celebrating 5 Years of Gwanak Cultural Foundation with Achievements Sharing and Mid-to-Long-Term Vision Announcement
Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) has focused on promoting cultural arts and fostering policies in the district by establishing the Gwanak Cultural Foundation in 2019 to expand residents' opportunities to enjoy culture and arts and enhance the region's cultural competitiveness.
Marking its 5th anniversary, the Gwanak Cultural Foundation will hold a commemorative ceremony at Gwanak Art Hall on August 6. During the ceremony, the foundation will share its achievements to date and announce its mid- to long-term vision.
The ceremony will proceed in the following order: opening performance by the Rock and Roll Crew, welcome address, guest congratulatory speeches, resident commendations, and presentation of the mid- to long-term vision.
Over the past five years, under the vision of "Everyone's Art Shines as Brilliant Culture," the Gwanak Cultural Foundation has provided opportunities for cultural experiences in daily life by engaging with 360,000 festival visitors and 203,279 neighbors.
Additionally, it has operated 1,326 cultural arts programs and produced videos capturing the stories of Gwanak, achieving a total of 447,832 views, thereby contributing to the development of diverse content.
As a result, the foundation has consecutively achieved remarkable successes such as receiving the "Regional Culture Excellence Award" from the National Association of Regional Cultural Foundations and having the Gang Gam-chan Festival selected by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as the "Only Preliminary Cultural Tourism Festival in Seoul for 2024-2025."
In particular, Gwanak Art Hall, the representative art space of the southwestern region, has established itself as a venue to satisfy residents' cultural desires by welcoming 380,000 offline performance attendees last year with a variety of stages and artistic performances.
The district plans to continuously discover and develop cultural content to attract not only residents but also diverse culture enthusiasts, leading the realization of "Gwanak, Where Art Shines Brilliantly."
