Where Is the Best Site for Relocating the Chungnam Forest Resources Research Institute?... On-Site Inspections of Five Candidate Locations
Scheduled to Be Announced Around the End of August
The relocation site for the Chungnam Forest Resources Research Institute is expected to be announced around the end of August.
According to Chungcheongnam-do Province on the 30th, five cities and counties?Gongju, Boryeong, Geumsan, Cheongyang, and Taean?have submitted bids to host the new site for the Forest Resources Research Institute.
The province has completed on-site inspections of the candidate locations and plans to announce the final site at the end of August after reviewing city and county PPT presentations.
The Chungnam Forest Resources Research Institute was originally an affiliate organization of Chungcheongnam-do Province, but was incorporated into Sejong City when the city was established in 2012. It has been left neglected for over a decade without proper compensation or restitution.
During the 8th popularly elected administration, Governor Kim Tae-heum requested that the government purchase the site, but as the issue was not resolved, it was decided to cooperate with Sejong City to sell the land to the private sector.
A provincial official said, "We have completed the on-site inspections, but the city and county PPT presentations are still pending," adding, "We are currently discussing the candidate sites, and while nothing is finalized, it is likely to be decided around the end of August."
