Ulsan Office of Education Announces Dadam Project School Innovation Contest
Recruiting 10 Target Schools Until September 20
Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Cheon Changsu) is publicly recruiting 10 schools (7 for area-based innovation, 3 for playground restructuring) for the 2025 School Space Innovation Dadam Project until September 20.
The Dadam Project is a Ulsan-style school space innovation project that reorganizes school spaces into places of learning and life, centered on students who will lead the future society. The educational community collaborates with experts to connect the space transformation with the curriculum.
The Ulsan Office of Education is recruiting target schools to be included in the 2025 School Space Innovation Dadam Project implementation plan.
The 2025 Dadam Project will add a new playground restructuring initiative in addition to area-based space innovation, turning school playgrounds into unique educational spaces that support students' learning and growth. The construction budget per school is 350 million KRW for area-based innovation and 500 million KRW for playground restructuring, with a project period of one year.
The Office of Education plans to select the target schools in October. To help schools interested in applying better understand the project, an online briefing session will be held on September 5.
For schools selected for area-based space innovation, construction will begin in December 2025 and be completed by February 2026. For playground restructuring, construction will take place between July and August 2025.
The Ulsan Office of Education has been operating the Dadam Project since 2019. With a construction budget of 8.3 billion KRW, it has renewed the outdated educational environments of 38 schools. Throughout the process, students, parents, staff, and architectural experts have participated together to transform spaces in support of student growth. As a result, more than 90% of users responded with satisfaction or higher in satisfaction surveys conducted over the past three years.
Students and teachers who participated in last year's project said, "It was rewarding to directly participate in creating and realizing school spaces as educational stakeholders," and "It was great to communicate directly with experts to design spaces that previously felt difficult to approach."
