Miryang City Begins Payment of Gyeongnam Farmers and Fishermen Allowance
To 20,019 Farmers in the Region
Miryang City in Gyeongnam has begun distributing the Gyeongnam Agricultural and Fisheries Allowance to 20,019 local farmers. The total distribution amount is 6,057,000,000 KRW, the city announced on the 24th.
The Agricultural and Fisheries Allowance has been implemented by Gyeongsangnam-do since 2022 to support the stable agricultural and fisheries activities of farmers and fishers. The eligibility criteria require recipients to have registered as the owner or co-owner of an agricultural or fisheries business in Gyeongnam before January 1, 2023, and the payment amount is 300,000 KRW per recipient.
The allowance is provided by charging points to Nonghyup Chaeum Card holders, and the city credited 300,000 points to eligible recipients on the 22nd. For those without a Nonghyup Chaeum Card, a Nonghyup prepaid card loaded with 300,000 KRW will be distributed at the Eup, Myeon, and Dong Administrative Welfare Centers after the 12th of next month.
The Agricultural and Fisheries Allowance can be used at restaurants and other establishments within the city until December 31 of this year, but it cannot be used at certain businesses, including karaoke rooms and billiard halls.
Kim Jinwoo, head of the Agricultural Policy Division, said, "We hope that the support from the Agricultural and Fisheries Allowance will help stabilize the lives of farmers and fishers and revitalize the local economy. Please note that if the entire amount is not used by the end of this year, it will be automatically forfeited, so be sure to use it within the deadline."
