Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam will host 'Sponge Day' at Sponge Park, a youth culture and arts complex space that opened last month in the Garosu-gil area, on Saturday, the 27th, to revitalize youth culture.
Sponge Park is a youth culture and arts complex located on Garosu-gil in Yongho-dong, Seongsan-gu. It consists of a Creative Building where young artists can reside and work on their creations, an Education Building that runs youth participation programs, and a Multipurpose Building for popular event pop-up booths and more.
'Sponge Day' is held on the last Saturday of every month to revitalize youth culture. On this day, resident young artists at Sponge Park plan and present a variety of unique cultural contents, performances, and exhibitions. This month's Sponge Day will feature the resident art group 'Artwork,' which has prepared diverse performances and experiential events under the theme of 'Healing Island.'
The event will run from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM and will include programs such as the See You Letter performance, where participants' stories are collected and songs matching those stories are performed, making recording letters, creating smile bracelets, dance therapy experiences, and more. All programs are themed around healing and are open to any Changwon citizens visiting Sponge Park with young people.
The city plans to continue hosting Sponge Day every month so that Changwon's youth can enjoy a more diverse cultural and leisure life. In addition, by linking the event with the Youth Week in September, the city aims to develop Sponge Park into the center of youth culture and arts in Changwon.
