Seoul Dongjak-gu (Mayor Park Il-ha) announced on the 24th that it will actively promote a lunchbox support project for children to minimize the care gap for dual-income parents during the vacation period.

The district will provide meals to 150 elementary school students in the area with dual-income parents from July 29 to August 16. The meals will be prepared directly at the meal preparation facility "The Dongjak," operated by the Dongjak-gu invested company, Republic of Korea Dongjak Corporation, and delivered directly to each household through the local community service centers.

The cost of each lunchbox is 9,000 KRW, but the district will support 6,000 KRW regardless of income level, and parents only need to pay 3,000 KRW. Residents who wish to participate can apply in person at the community service center of their residential jurisdiction from the 24th to the 26th of this month, bringing identification along with proof of dual employment such as a certificate of employment and a workplace health insurance qualification certificate.

In addition, Dongjak-gu also provides lunch to about 1,500 children at risk of food insecurity in the area and those using after-school care facilities such as Kiwoom Centers and local children's centers. Starting this year, the district has officially implemented evening lunchboxes at daycare centers to provide dinner for children in extended night care, striving to create a nurturing environment where both children and parents can be happy and reassured.

Mayor Park Il-ha said, "We will support high-quality lunchboxes for dual-income families in the district to help children grow healthily and reduce the parenting burden on parents," adding, "We will continue to promote differentiated policies befitting the status of Dongjak as a city good for having and raising children."
