In Bangbae Neighborhood Park, the toddler forest experience center established in 2017 was renovated and reopened. This is a nature-themed playground developed along a long walking trail on a site of about 10,000㎡. Facilities damaged by heavy rain in 2022 were replaced, and after planting flowers and trees, the area was newly refurbished earlier this month.
While renovating the facilities, nine experiential spaces including play facilities and resting areas were also created. These include ▲‘Nature Walking,’ where children can experience the textures of nature by stepping on pumpkin stones and wood chips ▲‘Slope Playground,’ where children climb slopes using ropes and footholds ▲‘Forest Playground,’ featuring various attractions such as a wooden xylophone and log tunnels ▲and a newly created ‘Insect Observation Area,’ which will serve as a habitat for insects.
Around the walking trail and experiential facilities, a variety of small trees and herbaceous plants such as hydrangeas, mountain azaleas, Japanese pieris, spiraea, arrowwood, and liriope were planted abundantly so that children can enjoy greenery wherever they step.
On an 800㎡ site within the barrier-free forest trail of Umyeonsan Mountain, a new nature-themed play and rest area for children called the ‘Cherry Blossom Playground’ has been established. The Umyeonsan barrier-free forest trail, opened in May, is made of wooden decks, allowing anyone to enjoy a safe and comfortable walk without obstacles.
Play facilities and resting spaces such as a ‘net hammock’ and ‘log resting area’ were created here for children to use freely. The playground is characterized by the installation of minimal natural facilities instead of artificial structures, allowing children to feel close to nature.
