Installation of Vehicle Entry Blocking Facilities at Two Locations Including Guro-gu Guil Station Front and Oryu Underpass
Guro-gu (District Mayor Moon Heon-il) announced that it has completed the installation of vehicle entry blocking facilities at two underpasses prone to flooding during typhoons and heavy rain.
The vehicle entry blocking facilities serve to prevent secondary accidents by blocking vehicles from entering the underpasses at the entrance when accidents such as flooding or fire occur inside due to heavy rain.
These vehicle entry blocking facilities are equipped with Information and Communication Technology (ICT) that automatically detects the water level inside the underpass and can lower the barrier, and they can also be remotely controlled in case of emergencies.
The two locations where the vehicle entry blocking facilities were installed are the underpass in front of Guil Station (636-45, Guro-dong) and the Oryu underpass (73-12, Oryu-dong).
Along with the vehicle entry blocking facilities, auxiliary safety equipment such as closed-circuit television (CCTV), water level gauges, and electronic display boards indicating vehicle entry prohibition were installed. Guro-gu invested 700 million KRW over five months starting in February and completed the construction earlier this month.
Moon Heon-il, Mayor of Guro-gu, stated, “With the installation of vehicle entry blocking facilities, we can respond more effectively to unpredictable heavy rain and expect it to help prevent safety accidents in underpasses. We will continue to do our best to prepare disaster accident countermeasures through facility reinforcement and proactive measures such as blocking facilities.”
