According to the city on the 11th, Mayor Baek said, "Last year's heavy rain damage has not been fully restored, and this year, record-breaking rainfall continues to cause damage throughout Nonsan. We ask for an early declaration of a special disaster area so that full-scale recovery support can be provided."
He particularly emphasized, "Drainage pump stations must function properly to prevent urban flooding, but currently, the area around the Aho Drainage Pump Station is a habitual flood zone, causing significant inconvenience to residents. The pump station is aging and lacks sufficient capacity, making it difficult to cope with extreme rainfall."
The Aho Drainage Pump Station, located on the Nonsancheon, faces the risk of overflow every time there is heavy rain. Due to its outdated facilities, drainage is not smooth, and the area is classified as a habitual flood zone.
This region has many greenhouses and farmlands, and last year, the surrounding area was flooded, resulting in crop damage. Residents from nine villages also had to evacuate.
