Nambu University Boxing Team Shines at National Tournament... Achieves Overall 2nd Place
2024 National Boxing Championship: 3 Gold and 4 Bronze Medals
The Nambu University boxing team secured 2nd place overall at the 2024 National Boxing Championship.
According to Nambu University on the 11th, the university boxing team participated in the national competition held at Cheongyang County Gymnasium from the 29th of last month to the 2nd, winning 3 gold medals and 4 bronze medals.
The first gold medal came from the women's division. Lee Hye-ju (1st year), who competed in the women's general -50kg category, won by decision against Kim Ga-rim (Daegu City Sports Council), Seo Yeon-ju (Yongin University), and Lee Seung-hee (Gyeonggi Hanam), claiming the gold medal. Having avenged her defeat to Seo Yeon-ju in April, Lee Hye-ju was selected as the Most Valuable Player of the tournament with her spirited performance.
Lee Do-yoon (2nd year), who competed in the men's general 57kg category, advanced to the finals after defeating Lee Seung-eon (Daekyung University) in the semifinals. Despite sustaining an eye injury in the final against Kang Dong-hyuk (Yongin University), he won by decision and took the gold medal.
Kim Min-jun (2nd year) also delivered a golden punch. Competing in the men's general -67kg category, Kim Min-jun defeated Yoo Hyun-jin (Yongin University) in the semifinals and led against Kim Su-han (Yongin University) in the finals, winning by ABD (abandonment) in the 3rd round.
Additionally, Kim Kyu-hyun (1st year) in the -54kg category, Kim Myung-hyun (2nd year) in the -63.5kg category, Kim Yoo-hyun (3rd year) in the -75kg category, and Lee Tae-gyu (4th year) in the -86kg category each earned bronze medals, contributing to Nambu University's overall 2nd place achievement.
