Seodaemun-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Seong-heon) announced on the 11th that it recently opened the 11th branch of the Our Neighborhood Care Center in Bukahyeon-dong to establish a community-centered care system and alleviate the care gap for elementary school students.

The center provides regular, temporary, and emergency care services near students' residences for elementary school students from grades 1 to 6 who need after-school care. This 11th branch is the third directly operated by the district, following the 9th branch (Hongje 3-dong) and the 10th branch (Bukgajwa 2-dong), which opened consecutively in July and December last year.

This initiative aims to actively respond to the increasing demand for care services and strengthen the public nature of elementary care facilities led by the district through developing and operating programs linked with local infrastructure.

The 11th branch has a capacity of 38 users and operates on weekdays from after school until 7 p.m. during the semester, and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays during vacation periods. It also provides a “Safe and Secure School Arrival Service,” where care teachers accompany lower-grade elementary students from the school to the care center.

In addition to basic care programs such as life safety guidance, hygiene and health management, and provision of meals and snacks, the center supports balanced growth of children through project-based learning activities (PBL) that harmonize play and study. The usage fee is 50,000 KRW per month or 2,500 KRW per day, and applications can be made through the Our Neighborhood Care Portal.

Mayor Lee Seong-heon stated, “Bukahyeon-dong is an area densely populated with large apartment complexes, where the demand for care is high. We expect that the opening of this center will fill the care blind spots,” and added, “We will continue to strive to provide high-quality care services.”
