Chungcheong and Jeolla Regions Raise Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters to Level 2... Heavy Rain Warning at 'Alert' Level
Cumulative Rainfall of 225.0mm from 0 to 5 AM in Iksan, Jeonbuk
Heavy rain fell overnight mainly in the southern and central regions, prompting the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters to raise the alert level from Stage 1 to Stage 2. Passenger ferry and railway operations were suspended, and flooding damage also occurred.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced that due to the influence of a low-pressure system and a stationary front, heavy rain warnings were issued for the Chungcheong and Jeolla regions, with heavy rainfall expected. Accordingly, as of 2:30 a.m. on the 10th, the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters elevated the alert level from Stage 1 to Stage 2. The heavy rain crisis alert level was also raised from 'Caution' to 'Warning.'
As of 5 a.m. that day, heavy rain warnings were issued for Daegu Gunwi, parts of Chungbuk, Chungnam, Jeonbuk, and Gyeongbuk. From midnight to 5 a.m., Iksan in Jeonbuk recorded the highest cumulative rainfall at 255.0 mm, followed by ▲Buyeo 240.5 mm ▲Seocheon 229.0 mm ▲Gunsan 196.5 mm ▲Nonsan 194.5 mm ▲Geumsan 175.3 mm ▲Jinan 125.0 mm ▲Daejeon 118.5 mm.
This heavy rain caused damage to 195 public facilities, and numerous flooding incidents occurred. In Gyeongbuk, 23 houses and in Chungbuk, 26 houses were submerged, with 8 cases of vehicle flooding reported. Approximately 2,267 households temporarily evacuated, and the government provided temporary housing facilities to 1,188 households.
Nineteen national parks are currently closed. Five passenger ferries operating between Ulleung-Dokdo and Mokpo-Hongdo, as well as parts of the Janghang and Honam railway lines, have suspended operations. A total of six flights were also canceled.

Lee Sang-min, head of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters (Minister of the Interior and Safety), stated, "The government will do its utmost to prevent damage to the public from this heavy rain," and urged, "Citizens are advised to frequently check weather information for their area and refrain from approaching dangerous areas such as landslide-prone zones, riverbanks, and underground spaces."
