On the 8th, a port safety accident prevention campaign will be held with the attendance of the Director of the Busan Regional Office of Oceans and Fisheries, related organizations, and port stevedoring company representatives. Preventive items for heat waves (such as face masks) will be distributed to port workers.
In addition, in connection with 'Industrial Safety and Health Month,' a capacity-building seminar for port safety personnel will be held on the 10th at the BEXCO Convention Hall in Busan to expand public participation in port safety.
The capacity-building seminar for port safety personnel will cover ▲port safety policy directions and the status and countermeasures for safety accidents in 2023 ▲safety management of handling and stevedoring hazardous materials at ports ▲an explanation of the Serious Accidents Punishment Act, among other topics.
In particular, during this Safety Culture Week, port safety inspectors from other ports such as Incheon and Gwangyang will participate in joint inspections of the nation's first automated container terminal. They will share and discuss changes in the work environment due to port digitalization and the shift in safety management paradigms.
Furthermore, throughout July, intensive inspections will be conducted on port facilities and the safety of port workers to prepare for summer disasters such as storms, floods, and heat waves.
Ryu Jaehyung, Director of the Busan Regional Office of Oceans and Fisheries, who is co-hosting the event, emphasized, "We hope that the Busan Port Safety Culture Week will help spread a culture of safety in Busan Port, and that the sharing of proactive safety management systems following the opening of the nation's first fully unmanned automated container terminal at Busan New Port will lead to a safer port."
Kang Junseok, President of Busan Port Authority, also stated, "We hope that this Port Safety Culture Week will serve as an opportunity to enhance the capabilities of port safety personnel and create a disaster-free Busan Port."
