Debate on Key Youth Issues Including Jobs, Housing, Welfare, Participation, and Communication
Geumcheon-gu (District Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) will hold the "Geumcheon-gu Youth Grand Debate," with the participation of about 100 local youths, at 7:30 PM on the 4th in the district office auditorium to establish the "Geumcheon-gu Youth Policy 5-Year Basic Plan."
This event was organized to gather opinions from youths residing in or active within the district to set the basic direction of the district's youth policy for the next five years.
Marking the 30th anniversary of the district office's opening next year, the district plans to directly hear from youths about their vision for Geumcheon's future over the next 30 years and youth policies during the debate.
The debate will be conducted in two parts: Part 1 will cover understanding Geumcheon-gu's youth policy, and Part 2 will involve table-based thematic discussions and presentations of results.
In Part 1, participants will listen to an explanation of the basic youth policy plan and share key findings from the Geumcheon-gu youth survey. In Part 2, based on the youth survey, participants will select one pre-determined topic for table discussions.
The debate topics consist of 10 current issues that youths themselves find challenging to solve, categorized into two Geumcheon-gu space topics (Our Neighborhood Space, The Geumcheon-gu I Will Live In), three youth-related topics (Well-being, Safety, Stability; Communication; Independence), and five youth policy areas (Jobs, Housing, Education & Career, Culture & Welfare, Participation).
Youths will discuss their conditions, concerns, and entry barriers by topic during the debate and deliberate on the youth policies needed to improve these areas.
To facilitate smooth proceedings, each table will have 10 youths and one discussion assistant (facilitator). Question cards will be used for topic selection and discussion facilitation. After the discussions, there will be a presentation session to share the stories from each table.
