Soft tennis, also known as "Yeonsik Jeonggu," is a ball sport derived from tennis. Unlike tennis, which uses a hard ball, soft tennis uses a soft ball. The World Championships are held every four years, and this is the first time in 13 years that Korea is hosting the event since Mungyeong, Gyeongbuk in 2011. The Korea Soft Tennis Association, which won the hosting rights at the 2019 International Federation General Assembly, selected Anseong City as the host among four cities that expressed interest in hosting the event in 2022.
The tournament will take place from September 3 to 9 at the Anseong Matchum Soft Tennis Court located in Bogae-myeon, Anseong City. Approximately 400 players from 35 countries around the world are expected to participate.
The briefing was held in the main conference room of the Anseong Matchum Soft Tennis Court in Bogae-myeon, the venue for the tournament. Mayor Kim Bora, the vice mayor, directors, and key operational departments attended to discuss major execution plans and collaboration strategies for the event. The briefing also included an on-site inspection of the court facility improvement works. The Anseong Matchum Soft Tennis Court features eight soft tennis courts with 1,160 spectator seats and four regular tennis courts with 656 spectator seats.
