Lincoln Nautilus Earns Top Rating in US Safety Evaluation

Lincoln's mid-size sport utility vehicle (SUV), the Nautilus, has passed all crash safety tests conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) in the United States, earning the highest Top Safety Pick+ rating.

To receive this rating, a vehicle must earn a good rating in the small overlap front crash tests on both the driver and passenger sides. It must also receive a good or acceptable rating in the moderate overlap front test, which emphasizes rear seat safety. Additionally, the vehicle must achieve good or acceptable ratings in the pedestrian front crash prevention evaluation and be equipped with good or acceptable headlights across all trims.

The 2024 Nautilus met all of IIHS's testing requirements to earn the highest rating. Notably, it received overall excellent scores in the moderate overlap test, which distinguishes the Top Safety Pick+ from the lower Top Safety Pick rating.

According to the company, the crash test results showed that the vehicle's body structure was well maintained, and the risk of injury to both the driver and rear seat occupants was low. During the crash, both the shoulder and knee belts maintained ideal positions, controlling the rear seat dummy's movement without generating excessive belt forces that could cause injury.

This vehicle was launched domestically last year. The company described it as a model that develops Lincoln's core concept of "quiet flight" into a dynamic digital space. The front crash prevention system received high marks in pedestrian tests, and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) are standard. Lincoln Co-Pilot 360 features include a collision avoidance assist system with emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keeping assist. Since its launch in November last year, a total of 847 units have been sold domestically as of last month.
