The Korea Forest Service Issues 'Warning' Landslide Alert for Jeonbuk Region
The Korea Forest Service announced that as of 9 a.m. on the 12th, the landslide risk alert level in the Jeonbuk region will be raised to "Warning."
The alert level was raised following a magnitude 4.8 earthquake that occurred 4 km south-southwest of Buan-gun, Jeonbuk, earlier that morning.
Although no damage reports have been received so far, the Korea Forest Service urged caution to prevent secondary damage caused by aftershocks.
Additionally, experts in landslide-related fields such as forestry science, forestry, civil engineering, and geology will be dispatched to the site to inspect vulnerable landslide areas and regions at risk of ground subsidence.
To prepare for potential damage caused by the earthquake, forest helicopters are also on standby for deployment.

Lee Jong-su, the Forest Disaster Control Officer of the Korea Forest Service, stated, "We will conduct an emergency inspection to assess the possibility of landslides caused by the earthquake," and urged, "We ask the public to pay close attention to emergency disaster messages (CBS) and village broadcasts."
