Electric Room Worker Performed CPR...
Series of Accidents During Circuit Breaker Facility Work
A worker was electrocuted and died in an electrical room of the subway. It has been eight years since the industrial accident death tragedy at Guui Station.
According to the fire authorities and Seoul Metro, Mr. A, an employee of Seoul Metro, was electrocuted while working in the electrical room on the first basement floor of Yeonsinnae Station on Line 3 of the Seoul subway in Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul, at around 1:37 a.m. on the 9th. It was confirmed that other team members were also present at the time. The 119 emergency medical team, who responded to the report, performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation and transported him to the hospital, but Mr. A passed away at around 2:40 a.m.
It is known that Mr. A was working on power shutdown of the vacuum circuit breaker (VCB) panel at the time. Seoul Metro has established an on-site accident response headquarters at Yeonsinnae Station where the accident occurred and is investigating the cause.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport also dispatched an initial response team to the site regarding the fatal accident. The ministry plans to thoroughly investigate the cause of the accident by examining safety measures and compliance with regulations throughout the work and to prepare measures to prevent recurrence.
Subway electrocution accidents are not new.
