Fireworks 'Bang Bang' from Helicopter Toward Lamborghini... US Korean-American YouTuber Indicted
Last Year’s Video of ‘Destroying Lamborghini with Fireworks’
Authorities: “No Related Permit Obtained”…Trial Scheduled for Next Month
A Korean-American YouTuber who filmed a video shooting fireworks at a Lamborghini speeding from a helicopter has been indicted in the United States. If found guilty, he could face up to 10 years in prison.
On the 7th (local time), CNN and others reported that the Central California District Attorney's Office indicted Choi Mo (24), a Korean-American YouTuber from San Fernando Valley, California, on charges of installing explosives and incendiary devices on an aircraft.
Choi is a famous YouTuber with 923,000 subscribers and 1.2 million Instagram followers. On July 4 last year, he uploaded a video titled "Destroying a Lamborghini with Fireworks." The 11-minute video shows fireworks being shot from a helicopter at a speeding Lamborghini sports car.

It is known that Choi spent $2,100 (about 2.87 million KRW) for 3 hours of helicopter rental and $500 to $700 (680,000 to 950,000 KRW) on fireworks to film this scene. Authorities believe the video was filmed around June last year at the federally owned El Mirage Dry Lakebed in San Bernardino County, California.
The prosecution stated that Choi did not go through the approval process required by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for filming, nor did he obtain any licenses or permits related to firearms and explosives. The FAA requires aircraft pilots to submit a written plan three days before the scheduled filming. As a result, the FAA revoked the personal pilot license of the helicopter pilot involved in January.
Choi was released on a $50,000 (about 68.41 million KRW) bail, and the trial is scheduled for the 2nd of next month. Local media expect that if found guilty, he could face up to 10 years in prison.
