Gyeonggi-do Strengthens Cooperation System Between Daycare Centers and Medical Institutions
Gyeonggi Province is promoting the 'Safe Hospital Designation Project' that connects daycare centers with medical institutions.
Gyeonggi Province announced on the 4th that it will implement the 'Daycare Center Safe Hospital Designation Project' to ensure that sick children receive faster examinations and appropriate medical services, and plans to guide local medical institutions to city/county daycare center associations or individual daycare centers.
The current system mandates the placement of nurses (nursing assistants) only in daycare centers with more than 100 children, making it difficult for daycare centers that do not meet this criterion to respond quickly in emergency situations.
According to Gyeonggi Province data, as of the end of 2023, out of 8,903 daycare centers in the province, 8,519 have no medical personnel.
Daycare centers participating in the project will sign agreements with local medical institutions, selected based on accessibility and parents' opinions, starting in June to systematically manage the health of infants and toddlers using the daycare centers.
