Gyeongbuk Culture and Tourism Corporation Attracts 100 Taiwanese Tourists to Pohang International Fireworks Festival
Gyeongbuk Province and the Gyeongbuk Culture and Tourism Organization (President Kim Namil) announced on the 2nd that they attracted around 100 Taiwanese tourists to the Pohang International Fireworks Festival, promoting the beauty of Pohang's tourist attractions and the international festival brand to Taiwan.
The Gyeongbuk Culture and Tourism Organization strengthened the brand awareness of the Pohang International Fireworks Show as a representative international festival of Gyeongbuk and activated festival-linked tourism products by conducting active promotional activities with overseas exclusive travel agencies in Gyeongbuk. As a result, they recruited around 100 Taiwanese tourists and, in collaboration with the Pohang Cultural Foundation, successfully attracted them to the Pohang International Fireworks Show.
This year's Pohang International Fireworks Festival is being held for three days from May 31 to June 2 at Yeongildae Beach in Pohang. In addition to the spectacular fireworks finale "Fireworks Countdown" featuring the UK, Australia, China, and Korea, and the "Fireworks Drone Show" utilizing 1,000 drones, the festival offers a variety of programs such as the Fireworks Romantic Concert and the Fantastic Pohang Street Parade.
The tourists also visited other major attractions in Pohang, including the hot spot Hwanho Park Space Walk, the Japanese House Street in Guryongpo (a filming location for the K-drama "When the Camellia Blooms"), and the marine tourism destination Homigot.
The Gyeongbuk Culture and Tourism Organization is attracting tourists from the Chinese-speaking world to Gyeongbuk through various marketing efforts, such as attracting Taiwanese tourists to the Gyeongju Cherry Blossom Marathon, operating a promotional booth and related SNS marketing at the 2024 Taiwan Tourism Expo (TTE), and attracting special-purpose tourists.
Kim Namil, President of the Gyeongbuk Culture and Tourism Organization, said, "We will spread the charm of Gyeongbuk to the Chinese-speaking tourism market by developing tourism products linked to festivals where visitors can experience the unique beauty and style of Gyeongbuk," adding, "In addition, we will continue to carry out marketing activities to attract tourists from the Chinese-speaking world to Gyeongbuk."
