Gwangju Seo-gu to Conduct 'AED Management Status Inspection' Until the 14th of Next Month
Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Kim Ikang) announced on the 29th that it will conduct a management status inspection of 132 automated external defibrillators (AEDs) at 73 locations, including public health medical institutions required to install AEDs, apartment complexes with more than 500 households, and workplaces with more than 300 employees, by the 14th of next month.
This inspection will verify the overall management status of AEDs through on-site checks, including ▲AED installation status ▲location guide signs ▲designation of management responsible persons ▲normal operation of equipment ▲validity of equipment and consumables.
Seo-gu plans to immediately correct minor issues based on the inspection results and take strong measures such as imposing fines for violations like failure to install equipment or failure to report installation.
Additionally, Seo-gu will distribute manuals for monthly self-inspections and request equipment updates to continuously manage institutions that are not obligated to install AEDs.
Park Yeonju, Director of the Health Administration Division, said, “Although AEDs are not used regularly and their necessity may not be well recognized, continuous management is essential to prepare for emergencies that can occur anytime and anywhere. We will conduct inspections and education simultaneously to ensure that installation institutions do not neglect their management duties.”
Meanwhile, according to the Emergency Medical Services Act, mandatory facilities must install AED equipment, and the equipment status must be regularly managed to prepare for emergency situations.
