Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism Explores Cooperation Plans with Korea Railroad Corporation and Others
On the 29th, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will explore inter-agency cooperation measures to enhance regional tourism transportation accessibility for foreign visitors at the Korea Tourism Organization Seoul Center. The discussion will cover sharing key cases and expanding connected transportation services to tourist destinations from major gateways such as regional terminals, high-speed rail stations, and airports.

View original imageParticipants include Korea Railroad Corporation, SR, the National Express Bus Transport Association, Klook, Kakao Mobility, T Map Mobility, Lotte Rental, Visa Korea, Busan City, and the Korea Tourism Transportation Research Institute.
In particular, Busan City will present the results of the demand-responsive transport (DRT) pilot operation centered around Osiria in Gijang-gun. This transportation system has been used by approximately 530,000 people as of last month. Klook will also introduce the real-time express bus reservation service launched in December last year. It is reported that the reservation rate last month increased seventeenfold compared to January after implementation.

Park Jong-taek, Director of Tourism Policy at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said, “Since transportation convenience services are directly linked to regional tourism visits, we will cooperate with the industry and local governments to improve connected transportation accessibility from high-speed rail stations and terminals to tourist destinations.”
