Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Kang Gi-jung) announced on the 28th that it will conduct a preference survey for the slogan, emblem, and mascot, which are the symbols of the ‘2025 Gwangju World Archery Championships,’ over five days from the 29th to June 2nd.
The symbols for the 2025 Gwangju World Archery Championships were developed to embody the core values of the event, including ▲the athletes' challenge and unity toward their dreams ▲a leap forward for the shining future of Gwangju as a premium sports city ▲and hope for peace desired by humanity. The preference survey candidates were narrowed down through participation from citizens and experts.
The online survey for the symbol candidates can be participated in via the preference survey banner or QR code on the Gwangju Metropolitan City website, or by accessing the Naver survey form (naver.me/5Cr03Old). Fifty participants will be selected by lottery to receive coffee coupons worth approximately 5,000 KRW.
The slogans shortlisted are ▲Shoot for peace ▲Echo of the peace ▲Shoot for future, Aim for peace.
The emblem candidates include ▲a design featuring two circles symbolizing harmony and an arrow aiming for peace ▲a design incorporating Gwangju’s symbolic colors and the shape of the bow from the Shinchang-dong Mahan relics ▲a design depicting an athlete shooting an arrow and a target ▲and four designs representing multiple arrows converging into one.
The mascot candidates include ▲an archer character inspired by the columnar joints of Mudeungsan, a symbol of Gwangju ▲a light cluster character inspired by the light of Bitgoeul Gwangju ▲a main character inspired by a target and a sub-character inspired by a dove, the city bird of Gwangju and a symbol of peace ▲and a character inspired by the archery target on the ground, totaling four candidates.
Gwangju City plans to finalize the symbols that reflect the values of the World Archery Championships, as well as Gwangju’s urban identity and brand, through this preference survey.
After selecting the final symbols for the event, Gwangju City will obtain approval from the World Archery Federation (WA) to officially adopt the slogan, emblem, and mascot for the 2025 Gwangju World Archery Championships.
