The 23rd Damyang Bamboo Festival, held for five days from the 11th to the 15th under the theme "Like a Bamboo Grove, Like Green," concluded successfully with an attendance of 650,000 visitors.
This year, the focus was on enabling tourists to enjoy the festival all day long and stay an extra day, thereby contributing to residents' income.
During the festival, Juknokwon was open late until 9 p.m., and the area was decorated with wish lanterns, firefly lights, moving lights, a large moon photo zone, and floating lanterns, offering visitors a richer night view.
Admission tickets to Juknokwon were refunded as coupons, which is said to have revitalized the local economy.
In particular, various bamboo-related experiences and events, such as bamboo rafts that can only be enjoyed at the Bamboo Festival, provided joyful memories for family tourists. Guerrilla events like "Unsu Daetong Big Jackpot" and the You Quiz Challenge held throughout the festival added excitement.
Previously, the festival schedule was held together with the County Residents' Day event (May 3rd), but to preserve the original meaning of both the County Residents' Day and the festival, they were separated and held from the 11th to the 15th. This change was well received by residents who could not participate due to the busy farming season in early May.
Additionally, before the festival, the county conducted inspections to eradicate overcharging and ensure safe food, and local merchants participated by selling specialties and various foods at reasonable prices, receiving positive responses from tourists.
The festival also transformed into a sustainable eco-friendly event. The first-time use of reusable containers significantly reduced the use of disposable products, and many tourists participated in an event where bringing trash in bags earned them souvenirs.
The "2nd Dambit Youth Talent Festival," held to commemorate the Bamboo Festival, provided another highlight on the festival's last day.
The Dambit Youth Talent Festival is a nationwide youth competition designed to offer various cultural experiences to young people and foster youth culture through the free expression of their dreams and talents in culture and arts.
The event featured 22 teams that advanced to the finals after fierce regional preliminaries, showcasing high-level performances in various fields such as traditional Korean music, dance, singing, and bands.
Especially since this is the second year following the inaugural event last year, the festival received enthusiastic responses from the audience with richer and higher-quality performances.
