UNIST Environmental Analysis Lab Recognized as KOLAS International Accredited Testing Laboratory
Korean Accreditation Body Recognition, Securing International Reliability in Chemistry and Water Quality Fields
The Environmental Analysis Laboratory of the Research Support Division at UNIST (President Yong-Hoon Lee) was recognized as an internationally accredited testing laboratory in the chemical-water quality field by the Korea Laboratory Accreditation Scheme (KOLAS) on April 11.

View original imageKOLAS is a nationally accredited testing organization under the National Institute of Technology and Standards, Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. It comprehensively evaluates testing institutions' equipment, testing capabilities, and facility environments according to KS Q ISO/IEC 17025, officially recognizing that they possess internationally recognized testing competence.
With this accreditation, the Environmental Analysis Laboratory of the Research Support Division has gained international credibility. It plans to secure expertise and reliability in analysis and contribute to the growth of various industries such as environment, chemistry, new materials, and energy.

Gwan-Yong Seo, head of the Research Support Division at UNIST, added, “Starting with being recognized by KOLAS as an accredited testing laboratory in the chemical-water quality field, we will strengthen our competitiveness in testing and analysis across various fields.”
The UNIST Research Support Division possesses top-tier equipment and personnel in Korea. Over 220 institutions nationwide jointly utilize more than 6,000 research equipment items. In particular, the Environmental Analysis Laboratory was designated as a specialized institution for measuring and analyzing persistent pollutants by the National Institute of Environmental Research under the Ministry of Environment in 2014.
