Wando Coast Guard Conducts Outreach Education and Training for Marine Autonomous Defense Teams
Conducted in a visiting manner for the convenience of residents who find participation difficult
Wando Maritime Police Station (Chief Lee Young-ho) announced on the 8th that it will conduct the 2024 Marine Autonomous Defense Team training and education for three months starting in May to strengthen the marine pollution prevention response capabilities and public-private cooperation system in remote island areas.
This training is part of proactive administration (government innovation) and will be conducted in a visiting manner to accommodate residents who have difficulty participating smoothly due to livelihoods, in order to practically enhance the response capabilities of the autonomous defense team members.
Marine autonomous pollution response education and training are being conducted to strengthen the capabilities for marine pollution control and the public-private cooperation system in island areas.

The training content includes △ education on types and usage of defense equipment △ practical training on the use of defense materials such as oil fences △ safety and health rules for defense workers at marine pollution sites.
Lee Young-ho, Chief of Wando Maritime Police Station, stated, “Through this training, we plan to reinforce the role of the Marine Autonomous Defense Team and strengthen response capabilities through customized education to preserve the clean Dadohae Sea.”
Meanwhile, Wando Maritime Police has organized and operated a Marine Autonomous Defense Team (consisting of 210 members across 22 locations) targeting remote island areas within its jurisdiction to ensure prompt initial response in case of marine pollution accidents.
