Krafton 'Earnings Surprise'... 1Q Revenue 665.9 Billion Won 'All-Time High' (Update)
Krafton has set a new record for the highest quarterly revenue ever, driven by the continued global success of its flagship IP (intellectual property), 'Battlegrounds.'
On the 8th, Krafton announced that its consolidated revenue for the first quarter of this year reached 665.9 billion KRW, a 23.6% increase compared to the same period last year, marking the highest quarterly revenue in its history. Operating profit was 310.5 billion KRW, up 9.7% year-over-year.
Revenue by business segment was ▲PC & console 255.2 billion KRW ▲mobile 402.3 billion KRW ▲others 8.4 billion KRW. Through various live services utilizing the Battlegrounds IP, the company achieved high growth across all areas including revenue and traffic. Krafton plans to focus on securing stable traffic and enhancing monetization models to sustain this momentum, while actively pursuing investment and development for the IP franchise.
The Battlegrounds PC & console segment achieved its highest monthly active users (MAU) and revenue since the game became free-to-play in 2022, fueled by the popularity of the Rondo map update released in Q4 last year and the growth-type weapon skins launched in Q1 this year. The mobile segment also saw steady traffic growth based on the 6th anniversary theme mode and Homeground content.
Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) expanded user interest through content tailored to local Indian festivals and joint marketing with Bollywood films, while also enhancing profitability by launching a UniPin web store, a third-party payment platform. Krafton aims to become the number one publisher in the Indian market by focusing on stable service for BGMI this year, along with leveraging diverse publishing experience and game-centered investments.
Investment in developers to secure future growth engines has also expanded. In line with the 'Scale-up the Creative' strategy announced last year, Krafton is acquiring promising global IPs through equity investments in developers and second-party publishing. Last year, the company made a total of 10 investments, and this year it has accelerated the pace with 9 investments made in the first half alone.
