'Swinging Bridges and Skywalks Risk'... Gyeonggi-do Inspects 28 Sites and Takes 100 Measures
Gyeonggi Province conducted a joint public-private inspection of suspension bridges and skywalk facilities within the province, resulting in 100 corrective actions.
The inspection took place from April 15 to 26 and involved the Gyeonggi Province Special Safety Inspection Team, Northern Special Safety Inspection Team, Safety Management Advisory Committee, and city and county officials. A total of 28 locations were inspected, including 25 suspension bridges such as the Yongmunsan Suspension Bridge and 3 skywalks installed throughout the province.
The most frequently cited issue during the inspection was corrosion in the steel components of the facilities, accounting for 23% (14 cases) of all corrective requests. This was followed by the absence of CCTV and loudspeakers, and the lack of informational signage.
Gyeonggi Province issued corrective demands for 60 cases and improvement recommendations for 40 cases, depending on the severity of the issue. They also plan to continuously monitor the implementation of follow-up measures to ensure prompt reinforcement.
