Various Exhibitions and Events Held in Roma, Milano, and More
The governments of South Korea and Italy are strengthening cooperation in the cultural sector.
On the 3rd (local time), Yoo In-chon, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism of South Korea, and Maria Tripodi, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy, signed a memorandum of understanding at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Rome to collaborate in fields such as art, creative industries, and exhibitions. They will jointly carry out various projects to commemorate the "2024-2025 Korea-Italy Year of Mutual Cultural Exchange."
Minister Yoo said, "The 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries is very meaningful," adding, "I hope this will be an opportunity to increase exchanges so that the people of both countries can communicate and understand each other." Deputy Minister Tripodi responded, "We will hold many events in both countries to celebrate the diplomatic anniversary."
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will hold performances, exhibitions, content, and tourism promotion events in cooperation with the Korea Foundation for International Cultural Exchange, the Korean Cultural Center in Italy, the Korea Creative Content Agency, and the National Museum of Korea. The opening event is the performance "The Crown Prince's Dream" by the National Gugak Center on the 4th at the Teatro Argentina in Rome. This is an overseas premiere planned for the Year of Mutual Cultural Exchange. It features traditional Korean music and dance such as Taepyeongmu, Sarang Dance, Sogo Dance, and Pungmul.
The Ministry will continue the momentum with various exhibitions and events in major Italian cities such as Rome and Milan. These include an exhibition of mid-career Korean artists next month, a K-content business-to-consumer trade event in July, a Korean tourism fair in October, and a Korean contemporary dance performance in November. A short film introducing Korea will also be produced in collaboration with the Italian National Film Center.
