Dongui University Hosts Workshop Inviting Uzbek Early Childhood Education Delegation
KOICA 'Uzbekistan Early Childhood Teacher Capacity Building Project'
Dong-Eui University (President Han Su-hwan) hosted a delegation from the Uzbekistan Early Childhood Education Office from April 21 to 27 to conduct a workshop for the establishment of a research kindergarten and early childhood experience center in Uzbekistan.
In 2022, Dong-Eui University was selected as the implementing institution for the "Early Childhood Teacher Capacity Building Project through the Establishment of the Uzbekistan Teaching and Learning Development Complex Center," supported by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA). The project includes re-education for early childhood teacher capacity building, establishment of a research kindergarten and early childhood experience center, and development of integrated teaching materials.
This workshop included visits to advanced early childhood education facilities in Korea and discussions on ways to promote exchanges in the Korea-Uzbekistan early childhood education sector. Four representatives from the Uzbekistan Early Childhood Education Office visited Korea: Director Pakod Uzakov, Deputy Director Peruz Gapalov, Senior Official Dilafruz Mahmudova, and Senior Official Muhammad Shaikov.

They also participated in related seminars and expert roundtable discussions.
Professor Jeon Yoon-sook of Dong-Eui University’s Department of Early Childhood Education, who oversees the project, stated, “We supported the delegation in experiencing Korea’s play-centered early childhood education practices to help them concretize goals for operating an experience center suitable for Uzbekistan’s education, including the composition of experience facilities and programs and operational strategies.”
Deputy Director Peruz Gapalov of the Teacher Capacity Development Management Department at the Uzbekistan Early Childhood Education Office said, “Through facility visits and expert roundtable discussions in Korea, we experienced that the experience center should function not as a space for knowledge acquisition but as a space for play and learning based on children’s interests.”
