Prosecutors' Office summons former Defense Ministry Investigation Headquarters chief Park Kyung-hoon for alleged external pressure in Chae Sang-byeong investigation

Former acting director of the Ministry of National Defense Investigation Headquarters Park Kyung-hoon (Navy Colonel) appeared before the High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Division (PCC) regarding allegations of external pressure in the investigation of the death of Marine Corps Corporal Chae.
The PCC Investigation Division 4 (Chief Prosecutor Lee Dae-hwan) summoned former acting director Park on the 2nd as a suspect on charges of abuse of authority and obstruction of the exercise of rights.
Upon arriving at the PCC in the morning, former acting director Park did not respond to reporters' questions such as "Did Minister of National Defense Lee Jong-seop instruct to exclude a specific individual during the review process?" and moved directly to the interrogation room.
Former acting director Park is suspected of being involved in reviewing the investigation records retrieved from the police by the Ministry of National Defense prosecution team, announcing the investigation results that reduced the number of suspects from eight to two, and re-referring the case to the police.

After the summons investigations of the two individuals are completed, investigations into higher-ups including former Marine Corps 1st Division Commander Im Seong-geun, Marine Corps Commander Kim Gye-hwan, Ministry of National Defense Prosecution Chief Kim Dong-hyuk, former Deputy Minister of National Defense Shin Beom-cheol, and former Minister Lee are expected to proceed sequentially.
