46 Reports Related to 4·10 General Election Voting in Incheon... Investigation of Election Officer Assault Suspect
On the 10th, the day of the 22nd National Assembly election, a total of 46 reports related to voting were received in Incheon.
The Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency stated that out of the 46 reports, 5 are under investigation, and the remaining 41 were resolved on site.
At around 9:50 a.m. that day, a woman in her 40s, Ms. A, was arrested by the police on suspicion of assaulting Ms. B (female), an election official, at a polling station in Gyeyang-gu, Incheon. It was investigated that Ms. A took one of the two ballots outside the voting booth without marking it and got into an altercation with Ms. B.
A police official said, "Ms. A is being investigated for violating the Public Official Election Act."
Earlier, in Ganghwa-gun, a report was received that a village chief had transported voters by car to the polling station, and the police are conducting a preliminary investigation before formal charges. Under the Public Official Election Act, transporting voters by car to the polling station for the purpose of voting or election is considered bribery and inducement.
Also, at a polling station in Bupyeong-gu that morning, a man in his 70s, Mr. C, who caused a disturbance claiming suspicion of ballot box swapping, was arrested by the police. Mr. C reportedly claimed, "The cover of the sealed part of the ballot box is shaking. I suspect ballot box swapping."
According to the Public Official Election Act, causing a disturbance at a polling or counting station can result in imprisonment from one year to ten years or a fine ranging from 5 million to 30 million won.

A police official said, "When the election commission staff reported the incident, Mr. C also called 112 himself, saying 'there is a problem with the voting,'" and added, "We are conducting further investigation into the circumstances of the case."
