Lotte Group has introduced artificial intelligence (AI) across all its affiliates and embarked on innovation. Since Shin Dong-bin, Chairman of Lotte, emphasized AI as a fundamental way to strengthen competitiveness at the first half VCM (formerly the Presidents' Meeting) held in January, Lotte has been accelerating the adoption of AI company-wide.
According to the distribution industry on the 27th, Lotte Group held the '2024 LOTTE CEO AI Conference' on the 7th to review the latest AI trends and strengthen the group's AI capabilities under the theme of preparing Lotte for the 'AI+X' era. AI+X means utilizing AI in various fields such as commerce, design, product development, medical care, and energy. The conference was planned for CEOs to first enhance their understanding of AI and discuss ways to apply it to business.
Earlier, Lotte Information & Communication introduced the AI platform ‘Aimember’ to all Lotte Group affiliates in January. ‘Aimember,’ a business generative AI service developed by Lotte Information & Communication, learns internal corporate information to provide a high-performance yet secure private AI service. To improve work efficiency, it also supports AI services such as document translation and summarization, code generation, and promotional copywriting.
Lotte Chemical established a new AI organization on the 22nd of last month to strengthen data-driven research using AI tailored to the characteristics of its basic materials and advanced materials businesses. The Basic Materials Business Team created an ‘AI Solutions Team’ at the Daejeon Comprehensive Technology Institute to engage in AI-linked catalysts, product development, and quality improvement through the fusion of R&D knowledge and AI. AI tasks previously handled by related departments will be integrated to improve product properties, predict catalyst characteristics, and perform simulation-based reactor design using machine learning and deep learning techniques. Additionally, an ‘AI Promotion Office’ was established.

Lotte Construction has also launched a dedicated AI organization and is introducing AI throughout its business to accelerate innovation in line with the AI transformation era. Early this year, Lotte Construction established the ‘AGI TFT,’ a dedicated AI team. Composed of R&D personnel and business headquarters staff, the ‘AGI TFT’ is responsible for AI task automation, securing smart AI technologies, and expanding new business AI services. In October last year, it opened the ‘Safety Situation Center,’ an integrated video surveillance system linked with AI systems at its headquarters.
