Cambodian Government Delegation Visits Busan Port, Discusses Port Hinterland Development Plans
Busan Port Authority (BPA, President Kang Jun-seok) was visited on the 20th by a Cambodian government delegation consisting of 22 high-ranking officials, including the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, and officials from the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction.

View original imageThe visit to Busan Port by this delegation was part of an inspection to identify success factors in the development and operation of the New Port and its hinterland, ahead of the international bidding for the selection of a project operator for the development of Cambodia’s largest trading port, the Sihanoukville Port logistics complex, which the Cambodian government plans to promote in June.
The delegation visited the BPA New Port Promotion Center and received an introduction from BPA officials about the current status of port and hinterland infrastructure development, including roads and railways. The delegation showed particular interest in topics related to the development and revitalization strategies of the port hinterland complex, customs clearance systems, and other logistics complex development matters.

Kang Jun-seok, President of BPA, said, “We are pleased that the accumulated infrastructure development experience of Busan Port can assist the development project of the Sihanoukville Port logistics center in Cambodia, and we hope that this will serve as an opportunity to further expand exchanges and cooperation between the ports of the two countries.”
