Gyeonggi-do Promotes Social Contribution Projects Utilizing Retired Livestock Quarantine Officers
Gyeonggi Province is promoting a social contribution project that utilizes retired livestock quarantine officers to conduct surveillance and sample collection for livestock diseases such as African Swine Fever (ASF) and Avian Influenza (AI).
Gyeonggi Province will deploy seven retired livestock quarantine officers from this month until December to carry out ASF and AI surveillance, farm biosecurity facility inspections, and disease consulting for pig and poultry farms as part of the social contribution project.

Gyeonggi Province expects that utilizing these experienced retired public officials will greatly assist livestock quarantine agencies and producer organizations in tightly managing biosecurity to block disaster-level livestock diseases.
Jung Bong-su, director of the Gyeonggi Northern Animal Hygiene Testing Laboratory, stated, "The social contribution project for disaster-level livestock diseases utilizing retired livestock quarantine officers has high satisfaction from both the public and private sectors, so we will activate it further to minimize damage from disaster-level livestock diseases."
