Gangseo-gu, 40 Years of Boundary-Undefined Land Cadastral Reorganization Completed
New Boundaries Confirmed for 55 Parcels in the 772 Area of Hwagok-dong
Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon) announced on the 12th that it has completed the cadastral resurvey project for the ‘Hwagok 2nd District’ in the Hwagok-dong 772 area and created new cadastral records.
The cadastral resurvey project refers to correcting discrepancies between actual land and cadastral maps and converting land boundaries represented on paper into digital form. This is to protect residents' property rights and enhance the value of land use.
The target area, Hwagok-dong 772, consisting of a total of 55 parcels (17,726㎡), had experienced significant inconvenience in exercising property rights, such as being unable to apply for various permits, due to mismatches between the land and cadastral maps. A cadastral resurvey project initiated in 2010 was also halted due to differences in opinions among landowners.
However, the district restarted the cadastral resurvey project beginning with the establishment of an implementation plan in March last year. To increase residents' understanding of the project, including its purpose, effects, and expected outcomes, explanatory materials were posted on the district’s website, and active opinion gathering was conducted through residents’ briefings, securing essential cooperation and consent from residents during the project process. Subsequently, boundaries were adjusted and finalized through precise cadastral resurvey measurements using satellite surveying (GPS) techniques.
The district expects that this cadastral resurvey project will resolve disputes between neighbors caused by unclear land boundaries and eliminate blind spots, thereby improving the usability and value of the land.
