300 Detectors Installed in 15 Stations
24-Hour Remote Monitoring, Security Personnel Dispatched Immediately
KB Kookmin Bank announced on the 8th that it will implement the ‘Subway Women’s Safe Restroom Project’ to ensure the safe use of restrooms by women in the subway in celebration of International Women’s Day.
KB Kookmin Bank, in collaboration with the Korean National Council of Women, has selected 15 busy subway stations in Seoul to install around 300 illegal filming detectors over two years from 2024 to 2025. When an illegal filming device is detected through 24-hour remote monitoring, the information is automatically sent to the integrated control center, and security personnel are dispatched immediately. Stickers will be placed inside and outside the restrooms where detectors are installed to prevent illegal filming.
Heo Myung, Chairperson of the Korean National Council of Women, stated, “With the increase in illegal filming crimes, women’s anxiety is rising. On the occasion of International Women’s Day, we plan to continuously promote the Women’s Safety Project to build a fair and inclusive society.”
A KB Kookmin Bank official said, “This project was planned to prevent digital sex crimes including illegal filming and to create an environment where women can feel safe. We will continue to do our best to coexist with various social groups including women and fulfill the bank’s social responsibilities.”
Meanwhile, KB Kookmin Bank has been steadily practicing inclusive finance for various social groups such as youth and the elderly. Last year, it launched the ‘KB Youth Leap Financial Product Package’ to support youth independence and the ‘KB Inclusive Finance Package’ offering financial benefits for senior customers.
