Fair Trade Commission Appoints Professor Shin Young-su as Non-Standing Commissioner
Successor to Committee Member Kim Dong-a after Term Expiration
The Fair Trade Commission announced on the 8th that it will appoint Professor Shin Young-su of Kyungpook National University School of Law as a non-standing commissioner. This appointment follows the expiration of the term of former non-standing commissioner Kim Dong-a.
Non-standing commissioners are appointed by the President upon the recommendation of the Chairperson of the Fair Trade Commission. Commissioner Shin's term will begin on the 11th of this month and last until March 2027.
Commissioner Shin earned a Ph.D. in Law specializing in Economic Law from Seoul National University in 2003. He has served as an associate professor at the Korea Legislation Research Institute and Kyungpook National University School of Law, and is currently a professor at Kyungpook National University School of Law.
Commissioner Shin is an expert in competition law and currently serves as the president of the Korean Association of Competition Law. He has also been active as an advisory member of the Fair Trade Commission's Fair Trade Policy Advisory Group and as a member of the Self-Evaluation Committee.

The Fair Trade Commission expressed expectations that "based on his profound understanding of the field of fair trade and his experience as an advisory member of the Commission, he will greatly contribute to enhancing the expertise of the Commission's adjudications."
