Kim, who works for a private security company, had come to this bar with his junior colleague Kim Young-dae (49) for a drink after finishing work.
However, A ignored Kim's warnings, and Kim attempted to subdue him. Kim first tried a leg sweep technique, but A did not fall. Then Kim wrapped his arm around A's neck, took him down with a rear ankle pick, pinned him to the floor, and twisted A's right arm holding the weapon.
Kim's junior colleague, who was with him, took the weapon from A's hand and called 112. The two held A down and handed him over to the police officers who arrived at the scene.
Kim is known as an elite athlete with a 4th dan black belt in judo. His junior colleague is also a 4th dan black belt in taekwondo and is a large man, standing 186 cm tall and weighing 100 kg.
On the 5th, the Suwon Nambu Police Station awarded certificates of commendation and cash prizes to Kim Jeong-ho and Kim Young-dae, respectively. Cho Byeong-no, chief of the Suwon Nambu Police Station, said, "We deeply thank these two citizens who risked their own safety in a dangerous situation to protect others."
